Dr Peter Yan Cardiologist Specialist in Cardiology Gleneagles Medical Centre Singapore

Is currently a Specialist in Cardiology in private practice in Gleneagles Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Hospital. Prior to leaving for private practice in May 1992, Dr Yan was an Associate Professor in Medicine, Department of Medicine, National University Of Singapore and Senior Cardiologist, Cardiac Department at National University Hospital, Singapore. He is now a Visiting Cardiologist to the Cardiac Department of National University Hospital and Singapore National Heart Centre. He is also a member of American Heart Association (clinical cardiology, cardiopulmonary critical care and Epidemiolody), an Associate Member of the Australia/New Zealand Cardiac Society and member of the International Andreas Gruentzig Society.

Having obtained his MBBS in 1976 in Singapore, he advance to achieve his post-graduate degree in Masters of Internal Medicine in 1981. For two years, he was attached to the Cardiology Service, Alfred Hospital, Australia. There he subspecialised in invasive and interventional cardiology, in particular Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA), coronary stenting and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in acute myocardial infarct and acute coronary syndrome.

Dr Yan has published many papers in international journals as well as local ones; presented numerous papers at international symposiums and lectured extensively in the Asian-Pacific region. He is actively devoted to public health education like the Singapore Mass CPR Training and activities of the National Hear week. In 1988, he was chairman of the Singapore National Heart Week focusing on the theme "Cholesterol and Your Heart". He again chaired the 1991 Heart Week on "Lifestyle changes for a Healthier Heart".
